Sportsman racing was alive and well this past weekend at Columbus Sport Nats. Really good car count but very few spectators as usual,no publicity as usual and not really marketed to spectators. If MG was sold could it have been HD Partners (Direct TV) buying it? They got Indy, Columbus,Gainesville and Atlanta in the NHRA deal and maybe want more. HDP wants to make it a NASCRAP clone and after they finish with it NHRA will get it back for a song or that will be the end. I'd welcome sportsman only racing but it will be almost total financially supported by the racers

IHRA has shown that there's merit in the Sportsman/Comp ranks...they only have a fraction of the operating capital that NHRA does, yet they get it done and then some! IHRA has been stealing the thunder on the non-PRO cars for the last few years, but NHRA has pretty much handed it to them on a platter.

I think IHRA just had a Mountain Motor Pro Stock race in Maryland. Winner $50.000. I would have loved to have seen that. There were even Ford Pro Stocks. Kinda like the old days. If NHRA screws the little guys even more who's gonna pay for the big boys
