Anyone else notice the missing radius rod?
Rear has the bracket, but no rod is installed.

I thought I read on the CRG site that '67 SS 350 cars didn't always get the bar. The bracket was on the axle tube but no bar. I think the same was true for 327/275hp/manual trans '67 Camaros. Going from memory so I could be mistaken.

I believe the radius rod was reserved for all big block cars, SS350 4-speed cars, and 327-275 horse 4-speed cars.

early cars did not have the bar, GM did not realize how bad the problem was until the kicked some out for sale...cant recall exactly but I think it was the third week of Dec?? they started showing up...I think CRG has it pinned down for a exact date.

There was a retrofit kit for early cars requiring the bar. I believe clamped on to the axle.

Steve,

I've never seen one of these "clamped type" kits installed.
Got any documentation ( images ) you can share on that?

Steve

Here's the service bulletin you may be thinking of:

As Denis posted, they were a welded retrofit and not clamped. One of my old SS's had a service receipt for the retrofit in the glove box...

My bad regarding retrofit axel bracket. It was welded on at the dealerships. I must have it mixed up with another retrofit.

CRG info says "mid-December 1966" http://www.camaros.org/radiusrod.shtml
Sue's 12D car (12/24 Protecto-Plate delivery date) has the bracket..
