Thanks for adding the "professional's" point of view.
I think this puts into words what many of us have been trying to articulate. ![]() Steve

Just when you think you have seen it all. Something like this surfaces. I would love to see the pictures of the restoration. This reminds me of a guy a few years back driving up to Nova Scotia Canada from New York to have a 67 "R" series ford dug up by a backhoe in a friends field to recover the tags and vin. The car rolled over and over in about 71. There was nothing left when flattened by the dozer and used as fill with some other vehicles. At least he only paid for some extra fill and sod in the end.

I personally know where A 68 BB Camaro is sitting right now that was wrecked badly many many years ago and parked behind A mech shop in TN. The owner has every piece of paperwork on the car but thieves stole the VIN and Cowl tag and A few other things that were on the car.The engine was gone when I saw it but I cannot remember if he said he pulled it or the thieves took it also. I am sure these have been installed on another Camaro somewhere. The only thing they forgot was to cut the hidden vins off the firewall, they are still attached.

Tommy [/ QUOTE ] Well, he needs to re-report that old car to the police. They can run a 50-state DMV check on it. The result: If the car was re-registered, the car gets seized and he gets a restored car back (but then he'd have to remove the VINs and replace them on his old wrecked car. |

In the mid eighties I was looking at a 69 Z/28, and long story short couldn't buy it.
Cut to a few years later, its in a local wrecking yard with a pole dent half way through the car basically cutting the car in two. The vin and cowl tags were both missing. Anyone with a rally green, white std int. non r/s no console flat hood Z/28 from BC Canada...check your hidden vin......
