No problem Blair.

1) - As Rick mentioned, the "L" in the cowl tag does not in itself prove SS.
2) - No way to tell from the cowl tag or VIN if a 69 Post Sedan is an SS.
3) - It is very difficult to "clone" a 69 300 Deluxe model as an SS, unlike the simplicity of doing it to a Malibu. A certain item on the body should give it away every time. All the clones I have seen over the years do not have it.
4) - Sorry Blair, the only 4346 carb I have is on the car and I guess it's going to stay there. I run an aftermarket distributor and don't have a 499 unit - "GO FISH"

I see the carbs on Ebay quite regularly and they are not cheap. Haven't seen a 499 for quite some time and they are very expensive. In time you will find them

At a local swap meet, I found a 498 (L34) distributor in a box with some other stuff. It cost all of $20. Could have just as easily been a 499 unit. It is working fine in our L78 car for now until the right one comes along. You just have to keep your eyes open. In time, like Don says. Being a Baltimore car and having the "L", are pretty good indicators, but buyer beware on any car.

Looks like ebay people have been reading Team Chevelle.
thats twice now that a 69 that is for sale has used the L on the cowl tag statement.
the other one was the dealer from New Jersey.

Yes Mike, looks like a fine example. That car went across the block at Mecum this spring. I believe it was bid into the $80's but did not meet reserve.

The orange L78 belongs to me, and I am asking $130K, but would consider a true serious offer. If anyone has any questions about the car let me know. My number is 870-926-2018. I have tried to get the car in the best shape I can, without doing a fresh frame-off restoration. Don, It was nice to meet you earlier this year at the auction. It is always great to meet someone who is knowledgable about these cars, and is welling to answer questions. Thanks, Charles Lumpkin
