Nova's didn't get a radio delete plate until '73'ish, from '68-'72 they had a r/d dash bezel. That plate was probably installed later, lucky for you though!!

Marlin,
Not sure that I understand about the plate. What did non-radio novas have prior to 1973? Have a complete dash that Wayne removed from a very original 1969 Nova... It has the plate shown in the photos. Whats the story? Regards, Stan |

The radio delete dashes prior to '73 did not have any cutouts for the radio opening -therefore, no need for a blockoff plate. Of course, a block off plate could be installed if the factory lacked the r/d bezel, but it would be unusual. The bezel was all one piece, so we call them radio delete bezels. The '68's are the really cool ones!! I'll try to find a pic of one.

I believe the radio delete plate shown was original equipment on Nova's in 69... some may have recieved radio delete complete dash bezels without cutouts, but I'm fairly certain many 69 Novas without radios used the same delete plate shown above as original equipment. May possibly have to do with production dates, suppliers, etc. as to if the cars got the plate or the complete "non radio" dash bezel, but I believe both were used in 69. Looks like a nice piece too btw...
