i was trolling the car web sites and came across the carsinbarns.com site. lots of old forgotten tin rusting away in owners yards, some of them are not that bad. anyway their was a 1970 chevelle "300" on page #18 that i never knew about. it states that it was a factory 402 4 speed monaco orange/black SS stripes. also had rubber mat floor cover (no carpet) and no engine ID on fenders. kind of a "mystery chevelle". anyone ever come across one of these in person? i wonder if it had the chrome tip exaust?

It sounds like one of the 9338 LS-3/330HP,marketed as a 400 CID,Big Blocks built in 1970.
Rainer on here & TCL owns an orange one as well. It probably had the "SS" stripes added by someone outside the factory,as those were reserved for Super Sports only on the line. |

I ran across one in a back yard about 12 years ago
it was a 4 speed car chevelle 300 rust bucket. No motor no trany.I asked the owner if I could buy some parts off the car. He wnated to get rid of the car however I talked him into selling me the part of the floor for the 4 speed. It was perfect so I could repair my butchered hump.I also took the pedals the owner told me it was a big block. Peter |
