[ QUOTE ]
The Mopar color mentioned is a surprise too....does anyone know more on this? [/ QUOTE ] Pete, There was an article several years ago printed in the Nova Times (NNN club magazine) regarding a 1970 Nova painted the Mopar "Plum Crazy" purple. I remember it being a 396 car, but not certain if it was an L-78 or not. Interesting car all the same. [ QUOTE ] Were any cars known to have been shipped in primer only and would they be -- also or noted 'PRIME' on the tag like I think some Vettes were?. [/ QUOTE ] Corvettes in the 1968-1972 range were delivered with PRIM or SPEC paint codes in a few cases. The cars delivered in primer are interesting... I know of one 1971 ZR-2 car currently being restored that was delivered this way. I've seen a feew special paint Corvettes as well... Mostly Chevrolet colors offered on other lines, but I would imagine that non-Chevrolet colors would be possible with the right connections. Word is that there was a run of approximately 25 black Corvettes in 1972 (black was not an available color)... Not sure what the tags on those cars read, but I'm in the process of finding out. I still have a SPEC tag taken from a 1976 Corvette painted in Bright Green Metallic that was available on the 1975 Corvette. Regards, Stan Falenski |
