Problem with my Optima battery?

I work at Advance and sell the Optima batteries and we have had several come back since I have been there. Most were on race cars that don't run alternators and have to be recharged time after time. Have also had some come back that are on boats and classic cars that arent being used often. I had A battery tender on my bike that I hardwired the leads on and it preserved the original battery for well over five years. The battery tender is A great idea.
