The big money applications are L88 and others w/ transistor ignition of course, but there were lots of bft applications. International, White, Reo etc. I'll post a picture of one on a nos IH V8-549 mag pulse dist when I get home. Cap is brown and has a tan fiber plastic "plug" glued in where the metal window is on the later replacements. Generally the black D309 or D309R caps come in the later zip top boxes that have a blue metal top and bottom. Usually the zip string canisters with black top and bottoms have brown caps in them.

Ok, here's a picture of a D309 no R cap that came on a NOS Delco IHC mag pulse distributor with a band date of 6L28. You can see the tan plastic in the 'window' where the metal part normally is. I've seen these caps on other old nos t.i. distributors too. Dont know what the NCRS guys would say about this.
