Actually Jason I held back quite a bit about that block. The fact of the matter is this. NO CKO was used in 1971 or 1972. Any replacement motor replaced under warranty was stamped "CE" with a corresponding serial number.
You can speculate all you want but I'm not the one being naive. Rick H. |

I've had a gang of parts over the years from the General that you won't read about or find the casting numbers in any book. There's nothing wrong with those stampings,Jason.

If that is the case then someone should be able to produce another example just like Jason's. Anyone?

Look at Ratbirds CRR stamping. What about this being a 4 bolt main 290 block? hey are said to be 2 bolt only blocks but this is definitely a factory 4 bolt.

Thanks Mark! I felt like a lobster over here. I noticed that pad had the same 2GMEXXX stamping. Any idea what it could mean?

And notice the 2 & GME & XXX are all on different angle/planes so have been done w/ 3 different hits....possibly at different stages of assy? .
