Allen, the 3% Paypal fee is for credit card payment. You can tell the buyer that you accept Paypal but not from a credit card. That way they need to hook their Paypal into a bank account to fund the payment and you don't get nailed for the 3% fee. If the item is expensive enough and the buyer wants to use the credit card for Paypal I will tell them to add the 3% to cover it. As for the Postal money orders, I could send you a money order and cancel it right away to get my money back and you wouldn't know it was no good until you went to cash it. There really is no truly safe way to pay for stuff. You need to be comfortable with the person you're dealing with.

Ken and Bruce...thats what I do...they don't make it easy for you to do it either !! But I would never use my bank account..in fact it pissed me off that I even had to use it for PayPal.

I dont have to wait to ship and my buyer dosent have to wait to get what they bought ,I guess thats why my auctions do so well I proubally get 5% more for the same item as someone who dosent take pay pal so im 2% better off

Knowing that I've just paid Ebay the listing fee and commission, it stings a little to give them $15 more just to receive money that way. Also, I had someone pay with Paypal and bogus account / credit card information. I got the payment right away, shipped right away, and then the money got yanked from my account a week later. Parts were gone, money was gone. Lesson learned. To be eligible for their seller protection policy, be sure to read it all and follow it to the letter. Therefore, unless I've dealt with the person several times and am comfortable with them, I avoid accepting PayPal when the dollar amounts get higher. Allen

[/ QUOTE ] Hmmm, I thought it was just credit card payments that you receive that they take 2.9% but it appears they take that from all transactions received. I haven't been selling anything lately so I never noticed that. I guess the credit card thing doesn't make a difference.

Just like cancelling a cashier's or certified check. There is no truly safe way to send and receive money.

[/ QUOTE ] About that time is when they are gonna find their picture on a poster on the Post Office wall. Remember the guy from Angola that is gonna have Bubba as a roommate for pulling that kind of stuff? When that happens, they're gonna get the same thing they gave everyone else. ![]()

I believe the waiting period for the cash back on a postal money order is 30 days. They will not cash it earlier than that in my experience with a lost money order. The only way you could scam someone out of the cash with a money order is if they don't cash it in during the 30 day waiting period.
