------They are licensed by GM therefore GM is theoretically making thier money on them (EMI). If there was some sort of tattletale mark on them they would be worth less. When there is money in it GM will take the profitable road..........Bill S

Unfortunately GM hasn't been able to turn a profit in quite a while. They just recently revised Q4 profits as an even greater loss.

Maybe they will sell the manifolds/carbs at "Employee Prices"! That brainstorm just about put them out of business, a little more couldn't hurt...

the employee pricing just moved all of the stagnant inventory off the lots and kept people working, otherwise they would have had to shut down quite a few assembly plants and lay people off.

Until they (the automakers) start producing cars to demand instead of to capacity they are going to bleed red ink.
Just because you have capacity doesn't mean you have to use it. All you do is flood the market and drive the price down. The one who wins the price war is the one who is the lowest cost producer... which is not the US makers with their legacy costs.
Overproduction and Price wars have killed Ford and GM.
They need to close their highest cost facilities concentrate on platforms that yield the most different vehicles with the fewest number of production changes and run with it... Unless they change quickly the Chinese are going to destroy them.

OK...novel idea...screw the Chinese cars...don't let them come here...sell them to all the people who can't afford to buy them in China...at what point do we stop selling all our technology , all our old companies and prime real estate to foreign concerns ? Sorry..I'm sick of it. We sell the technology , they do it cheaper with what amounts to slave labor and our places go out of business..a little protectionism is long overdue...global economy my ass

I am very actively involved with the retail auto business and have many GM dealer clients. They all agree that the incentives, the rebates, the special financing, etc. have to stop! The big three aren't selling cars, they are selling "the deal". Last summer was a perfect example of how the factories truly feel about the industry..they were in complete panic mode. Your local Chevy dealer wasn't selling cars he was delivering them after GM sold them on TV. All that was accomplished with the "employee deals" was a quick pull ahead of future sales. By October most of my dealer clients were sitting around and looking out the window. America needs to sell Value, Integrity & Quality and do it without a bunch of smoke and mirrors. For the US auto industry to recover they need to resolve the union cost issues and take the "rebate" needle out of their arm! Until then, the cycle of ups and downs will just continue....
