Tom, The Kowalski brothers (Tom & Scotty) used to live in a house behind Mannheim Jr High which is the neighborhood your referring to. In the late 70's and early 80's they had several Mopars. One that sticks in my mind is a Purple 69 Charger. They used to keep this car in their garage literally chained to the floor. The car rarely saw daylight but you knew when it did. A bit paranoid considering not many people cared for those cars back then. I lived 4 blocks from them. Wow, what great memories of the simple life. Now Dave Dean???? That name rings a bell just can't place it. Does the name Billy Evans ring a bell? Another local who used to build some pretty nasty stuff in the same neighborhood. Keep the memories coming.

Wow, you know of the Kowalski boys, that's really cool, I couldn't remember their names. I certianly won't forget their cars. I graduated HS in 1980 to give you an idea of my timeframe. A few friends names from that area I remember are Caffero, Hedstrum, and Latoria and I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting. Car People from my area were Steve Salerno, Billy and Chris Johnson, Joe Ginski(seen on "Practical to Tactical" TV show explaining Mercedes' radar anti-collision system), Kevin Ahrens, Don Nelson(Seen at Elmhurst w/a black 57 Chevy), and John Fornerelli. All these guys had standout cars at one time or another. Can't say I remember Billy Evans at the moment.

Tom, Did you graduate from West Leyden? I, personally, had a Red 67 Chevelle all through high school. I don't remember anyone named Hedstrum. However, I do remember Steve Hellstrom, Lou Caffero, Gary Ginski, and Gina Latoria. Maybe you remember her brother. Memories are rolling now.

The bigger shocker to me is the fact your HS yearbook had a page devoted to hotrods! Pretty cool.
