I remember the comercial where the kid has a rollbar, and a blower on his Javelin. The house is shakin, and the old woman is looking out the window yellin,"Harold, look what your son did to his car". That was cool.

Too many times I have Heard of a RED Machine that is complete and needs resto, only to find it is missing several critical components. The estimates of actual Red Machines produced by the factory is between 18 and 30. I have seen the actual factory records for total Machine production of the solid color cars and that was 596 in any one of 17 available colors. I have also seen many RED ones that have a different color code on the door tag ie: they were painted Red but not by the factory.
If you are going to attempt restoration then, Make sure it is correctly coded and is complete. There is No Parts availability for these. Just the Machine Wheels sell for 5 to 6 grand for a set of 4. That's if you can find someone willing to part with a set.
The Bakelite Carb base plate is also specific to these cars, several Vacuum fittings, We had to make one on the CNC machine out of Titanium. I can make them for others as the template is in the Computer of the CNC machine. It is Costly though. About $1000.- a copy.
Just remeber, buy as complete a Rebel Machine as possible as you have to refurbish most parts, they are not avaiable in Catalogs like Mopars and Chevys.
and GHood Luck,
Keep the Machines Alive. . .
