They debuted the red (non-operational) Camaro concept at the LA auto show yesterday. Caught everybody by surprise including the GM people at the show. The guy who had to talk about it was called in early so he could cram for the show. He was pretty nervous that he was going to flub up the details. In person I thought the car was pretty cool and the designer was there so I told him so. Yes, I could stand for a little different grille treatment but if this is what they come out with, I would definitely buy it. To me, it earns its Camaro stripes.
-Jon P.S. Looks like we might actually be able to see more than the front 1/4 of the engine when we pop the hood on this one. That 4th-gen situation did not do it for me. Might as well weld the hood closed. |

I'm wondering what the Z28 version will look like? or is this the Z28? I think it's a Great start and I think a few have it correct GM doesn't want to go backwards in design and have a flash in the pan, in the long run will pay off when the other car companies are saying now what.
Besides I'll bet this car will have twice the motor and drive trains of the others, you can have the Hemi don't they put them in their mini vans? I agree the front end needs some fine tuning, but give me a badged Z28 equipped like Z06 then see who buys the others!!

The Hemi that will make it into the top of the line Challenger will not be found in a mini-van. Take that to the bank. If you thinks the design team from chrysler won't be able to build on this Challenger platform 4 years from now, your kidding yourself also. So far they have hit a "Grand Slam". Instead of dragging the Hemi and Challenger through the mud, I would focus more time on what GM introduced on Sunday and how they can improve! I think they are way behind the eightball right now!

[/ QUOTE ] There are rumors that the new 392 Hemi crate engine, designed for racing, will go along with the new Dodge Challenger body. The 392 is apparently a racing-only engine in current form, not a production design, but a lower-power version may well be made for production and appear in the Challenger. The Challenger concept car to be shown at NAIAS (Detroit, January 2006; the Camaro will also be shown) uses, not surprisingly, the SRT-8 6.1 liter engine — but, unlike any current production LX car, it also has a six-speed manual gearbox. (Automobile suggested that the 510 horsepower 6.4 liter 392 Hemi might be used.) There are issues with the 392 - most notably the question of what untrained drivers will do with that much power. A fairly large number of Vipers left this world unexpectedly ![]() Patrick |

Even though I'm a Chevy guy, I would go for the Challenger.
GM missed the boat again. I can just see it coming, creating the Camaro off another platform like the Monte and slapping Camaro badges on it. Just like the GTO, created from the Grand Prix. What a lazy bunch of creators ![]() ![]() See http://www.radrides.com/home.php http://www.radrides.com/photogallery.php?sub=cuda ![]() http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=3104 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
