I am trying to find out the correct layout on the 1969 Camaro correct Hockey Stripe. I know that the front fenders are painted on and the doors back are stickers. Here is what I am not sure about. Where the 396 emblem goes on the front fender, is there supposed to be a break in the stripe or is the stripe supposed to be solid and the 396 emblem goes over the painted stripe? I have seen a bunch of pictures both ways and am not sure which is correct.
Any help getting this figured out would be great. |

The stripe SHOULD have the break for the engine ID. Also, there are several parts suppliers that sell a proper stencil kit to paint the fender portions. I've seen too many shadetree hockeysticks that look more like a broadsword or a snake that swallowed a rat. They're almost always TOO FAT.

Here are a couple of decent side views of the stipes. The pictures are in bad lighting but you can see the stripes decent.

Eric,
The hugger orange 396 SS must be my old car. Where did that car end up? Has to be my car, not too many with front bumper guards. 396/350 4 speed, white houdstooth, great car to drive. Can I have it???? Again! Mark |

You know, I used to hate this color combination and opted for what I have: Hugger Orange w/ black vinyl & D90 stripes. However, as time has gone by, I have become more and more fond of the HO & white vinyl & D90 stripes. What does that say? Getting old? ![]() One other question about this image. This car has the 1/4 louver chrome inserts, so why doesn't it have bright drip rail molding? Steve |
