Ok - I got some numbers on this car - if anyone can help that would be great. I learned that the rear end is not original to the car, The VIN is 530546, the trim tag reads 12437NOR140505
727 57 E
10D
I do know it was Fathom Green with a white vinyl top and whit interior and was built Oct 68. The tach is a 7k RPM, I think the redline was at like 6500 or so - but I forgot to write that down. Has the enduro bumper.

Mike,

First off, does the car have SS badges? Is the tailpan
painted black? Does the car have multi-leaf springs? If
so, are they 4 or 5 leaf versions? Do the heater hoses
enter the heater core cover ( @ firewall ) in the center,
or at the end closest to the engine? Does the radiator
have 3 or 4 cores? Is the upper radiator outlet straight,
or bent 90 degrees ( toward the passenger side )? Does the
THM400 have a flat stamped steel cross-member, or tubular?

My 69 L/78 was born 10-D-68 also. It was originally a
THM400 car as well. Post what you find. It will start
the process of determining if it was a small or big block
originally.

Steve

Ok - it does not have SS badges - it actually has Z28 badges - it has 5 leaf springs. The tail panel is the same as the car now but the car is currently Maroon. I will check on the other things.
Thanks
Mike

Ok - I did find out that it does have a small block heater core - I will get the remaining info as soon as I can. Looks like best case scenario that it may be a SS 350 or Z car?

Ok - the car has one large fuel line, it is possible the 12 bolt is original to the car - I could not find the stamping but it it dated I 28 8, the car was built 4th week of october. The engine and tranny both look to have come out of a 71 Chevelle Ls-5, tranny is a 72CR and the block is a 289 casting CRW stamp. Car runs real good and is pretty nice. I put it on ebay for him - my user name is mbahnsen if anyone wants to see pics.
Thanks
mike
