Default Winfixer Spyware...

Any of you computer experts run across a spyware called "winfixer"?? It has invaded my new desktop and I can't seem to get rid of it. Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Go to Google and do a search. Plenty of info on Winfixer and instructions for removal.

follow these steps Tom.

1) www.downloads.com
2) search for "Ad-Aware"... download, save, install, run
3) search for "spybot search and destroy"... download, save, install, run
4) www.google.com... search for thier pop-up blocker its great.
5) run both programs twice a week!

For all board members who are PC users, PLEASE protect your investment (aka your computer), follow my steps. Its well worth it!

The easiest fix I found was downloading the trial version of "Super Ad Blocker" and running it. I was so impressed with it's performance that I went ahead and bought it.

Had the same problem. Got rid of it with multi angle approach. I used ad-aware, spybot, xoftspy, and McAfee. Not one spyware program will detect everything. If that doesn’t work use a program call hijack this. It will create a log of your registry and then post in it one of the many spyware forums out there and they can tell you how to manually delete it.

I use ad-aware and it works great, i also use www.avast.com it works great and it's free, you just have to reload it every 90 days.
