One of the most interesting thing with this hobby or obsession( as my wife calls it) is learning something new. I saw this and thought it was interesting. I know there are some very knowledgeable minds here and I am curious to get your take on this. Is this for real or a another "urban legend" ?

I read the comments, all crap.
No one knows what the XXXX body tag means. The car is an unusual combination of options but has the wrong stripes. CE does not mean counter exchange. It is a warranty replacement engine.

He has been asking around about the XXXX codes on other sites and nobody really has a firm answer for him. I honestly cannot believe it's the only one.
[ QUOTE ] OK as you see I am not positive what this car was used for but one thing I am sure of is that there is not another Camaro built with the trim tag ST 12467 XXXX BDY ? [/ QUOTE ] I myself would not have made that statement. I really hope someone doesn't buy the car based on that alone. Statements like that could bite you. Read the questions and answers and it's obvious he really doesn't know the cars. He didn't know that big block SS cars in certain colors wouldn't have a black tailpanel. Dusk Blue is one of them. Wish him luck. Rick H. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think you're thinking of the rocker panel blackout below the mouldings that was included with the Style Trim Group. All X66 Camaros got black tail panels in '69 regardless of color. |

No I'm not. I know the difference. Here is the question.
[ QUOTE ] Q: Why isn't the tail lamp panel painted black as big block cars should be? Was it black, then possibly repainted? Please explain.... Nov-14-05 A: The car was painted back to the original Blue years ago I guess they liked it all Blue. We only no the history back to the 80's once it was repainted white only the owner would no if they left it Black or painted it all white, same with the Blue not everyone likes the Black panel?? Remember in the 80's people like to change the car's not leave them stock. Today we are trying to bring these cars back as close to original as possible [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] All X66 Camaros got black tail panels in '69 regardless of color. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, not all colors got the blacked out panel. Rick H. |

Would Jim Mattison have any ideas on this XX XX trim tag issue?... |

From his auction:
[ QUOTE ] It was a special order car and you could order the car anyway you liked. Also, the car could have been painted any color you want, it could have even been painted a Ford or Chrysler color. [/ QUOTE ] I don't get it. ![]() ![]() I myself don't buy the special paint theory. Not when I see the paint code on the trim tag. There has to be something else. Reading the posting from other so called experts is pure speculation on their part? [ QUOTE ] I guess that it could be considered a COPO but went far beyond that because it could not be purchased from your local Chevy Dealer. You may want to consider this lead. [/ QUOTE ] Then just how the H*ll did you order it then?? Through the order form an the back of specially marked boxes of Cream of Wheat?? I feel a wild goose chase coming up. Rick H. |

I didn't see anything on page 397 in John Hoopers reference book that talks about the cars trim tag. |
