AU casted SS Wheels?

Took the trim rings off the Nova SS wheels today to find a casting of "AU 12" by the valve stem whole. What does this decode as?

How much are these wheels worth? They are in restored condition with original type colors.

If they are off a 69-70 Nova SS and are the Chevelle 5 spoke type SS wheels, the AU is probably AO, which is 1970 model year 5 spoke SS wheel for Chevelle, Camaro and Nova.

The wheels should have numerical codes on both sides of the valve stem hole to denote the month on the left side of the hole and the day and AO on the other. As far as worth goes, if they are all date matched, most likely about $150 per wheel as you described them. If they are unrestored (fair condition) about $100 per wheel. If the codes for all 4 wheels don't match, slightly less. If all the codes match and they are concours restored, about $200 per wheel or $800 per set for the bare wheels (no accessories).

The above AO info is for 14 x 7 JJ wheels. If they are truly AU wheels (15 x 7 Camaro 1970 Z28) prices may be different. YA's would be the about the same as my post above.

There are 3-4 different style of AU wheels used from 1970-81. Prices on these wheels depends greatly on which style and year you have. Yes maybe $800 a set for the early 70 up to around March or April of 70. Correct date coded AU wheels up to 1974 excluding the aforementioned rare early 70 wheel, bring around a $100 a wheel in good condition.
Any AU wheel after 1974 up to 1981 bring around $50-75. All are bare with no caps or rings.

Guys... I am not talking about the AU Z28 style 5 spoke wheels. The stamping date on the SS wheels below had a stamping of AU 12. I will check the other wheels to see what the stamping it.

They look like AO wheels. Probably hit with a light stamp making them look like AU. If you have a matched set of AO. They may be original to the nova. Earl

I took a second look and they are AO casted wheels. The AO was faint on the wheel I originally inspected. I was told the car originally was equipped with CL 14x6 steelies and baby moon hub caps...? Maybe not?

The build sheet indicates the car had "PM2 Tire E70x14 LTR"... any help would be perfect!

The CL wheels are 14x7 and were also used on Camaros. The tires were a raised white letter wide oval bias/ply. The CL wheels have a diff look than the older XT style. Sent you a PM Dan.

Ah! I just found out today that the AO "SS" wheels on my Nova now were only option through 1970 and then the CL wheels became standard. Thanks for the heads up Tom! I also found out that CL wheels were 14x7 not 14x6.
