Just last week I was in my Insurance Agents office and I asked if they knew anything about the NICB because I have a classic auto I would like to know more about. Guess what, they didn't have a clue what I was talking about, and they didn't offer to try to find out.

NICB is part of ISO but the VIN search is a hands-on search using old microfiche cards from many years ago.

I am in the insurance racket and from the insurance company/adjuster/claims investigator side, they don't have as much comprehensive access to the NICB as they used to, due to the privacy laws, you really need somebody with DEEP access to get into the origination paperwork for old cars, unnfortunately, not as easy as it used to be.

Yes but I called the Chrysler Registry in Detroit and they told me the microfiche from 70 up was accidently destroyed.

They generally don't have a clue unless you are putting $$$ in their pockets.
