A fella in another site was asking about this Bresee sponsored '69 Camaro. Anyone out their know who drove it or maybe where the car is today. I worked for Bresee back in '78/'79 and I cannot recall.
Could it be a COPO or Yenko. Everyone know that Bresee was a mecca for racers and sold Yenko prepared cars through SPAN. The fella asking for help is wanting to possibly locate this treasured racer. The car likely ran at Utica Rome, ESTA, and Fulton. Any help would be appreciated. P.S. The passenger appears to be a Rat or Mouse ! Wacky |

I believe the car in the picture IS indeed a Yenko Camaro. note the silver grille, the front and rear spoilers, the cowl hood, and especially the Yenko "427" emblems on the hood... a dead giveaway IMO. Also... if you look closely, you will also see that under the "Bresee Chevytown, Syracuse NY" lettering on the door, it reads "A Yenko Dealer" very small underneath I have a similar photo of this same car and have studied it pretty closely.

Don't know anything about that car but my Z/28 was originally sold at that dealer.

Joe I thought the same thing. I figured it to be a Yenko car but I don't recall the driver. Jeff Crouse (past Bresee CEO) told me that Bresee did not directly own a Yenko drag car but he could not remember as he was in Vietnam when Bill Dunn, the owner and Jeff's uncle ? was running the place.
It had to be expensive buying a car to race purely on the strip. I'm sure Bresee had some a fair amount of parts into that car. I'm going to stop by tonight and see if Jeff is in. He will give me the skinny once he looks at the picture, I think. Wacky |

Subject: Bresee Drag Car Mystery Solved..
This is from Jeff Crouse, President of Bresee Chevy in Liverpool, NY. regarding the attached mystery Camaro. Here is a link to the dealership for those wanting to see the place. Wacky Bresee Chevy Hi Kevin: Chances are very good that the car in the picture belonged to Bresee and was driven by Don Kimball although I don’t think it’s a Yenko. Don worked for Nimo and sold cars for Bresee part time. He eventually became a dealer in SC. The other driver sponsored by Bresee was Skip Townsend. I have no idea where he is these days. Don worked on the cars with BMS which was owned in part by Bill Blanding. I can’t recall who the other 2 guys were. Yenkos were a fairly big draw at the time as muscle cars were very popular (GTO’s, SS 396’s and Hemi’s). I wish I had info on Yenkos as I get the occasional inquiry but I have nothing from that era. BMS raced a '68 Yenko Camaro that they bought straight from Yenko. It was car #YS-8024, received the door jamb plate, and was a non-copo car. Yenko records indicate that the car was a drag race car.

I remember discussing this car awhile back, and the possibility of it being a Yenko.
Old Thread Kevin, did Jeff give you any indication as to why he thought it definitely wasn't a Yenko? Just going by that lone photo it seems there are more signs that point to Yenko than not. |

I agree SCK, that car appears to be a yenko - heck, Bresee got at least 7 of 'em!
