The only thing I found over there was an un answered question not too far from mine. I want the address or general location so I can get a satellite photo of what's left of it. If anything.
[ QUOTE ] What has happened to Hollywood Speedway and to the Miami Dragway??? Is it still in use? What kind of condition is it in? Would anyone happen to have the address? or a contact? [/ QUOTE ] |

Well, sorry that site was of no help to you. You could also try thevintageracer.com. It features satellite photos of lots of old drag strips. You need to check under a lot of diffent categories over there such as "still visible, partially visible, etc." Not the easiest site to navigate, but hopefully you can find something there. In your photo, is that an aluminum nose, 4-door Max Wedge car?

Nothing on that site for it either, I checked all the categories. Thanks for trying though. I know nothing about the pic, just posted it because it's suppose to be from Miami Dragstrip. I have found out that it may have been west of Hollywood Florida, and may have shut down around 1973-4. But nothing in stone. I've scanned the satellite views from Miami to Hollywood, but not found a sign of it yet. Google Earth is my viewer. |

Mark, if you look close, those are the "Lawman" station wagons. Lots of wagons raced back then.

Hey boys, ring up Buick528...I believe he's a Miami native, but I know he's a drag racer from way back...

My bad, Jim Haas goes by "Buizilla" over here, "Buick528" elsewhere...but his cage has been rattled...

you ranggggggggg..... I started racing there in 1969 or so, it was opened 3-4 years before that. Miami-Hollywood Speedway Park was located about 6 miles west of the Fla. Turnpike, on the north side of Hollywood Blvd. It's a humongous housing development now. I believe the last race was in late 1993, and I was there that last day. The Snortatorium was located a few hundred yards west of the speedway, and there was a dirt-moto track behind that. In front was a roundy-round track, but it was kinda short lived. I remember seeing an incredible array of match races, and me being only 15-18 in the late 60's, I was in car heaven. Lot's of good times, and a couple bad times in the day...
