The owner replied to my email with a attachment that was from GM of Canada that documented the car as a legit W30 car. Any thoughts on what else to look for and an approximate value?

If I'm not mistaken, that is the car that Gene Wray just sold a couple of months ago. Gene's son, Mark, is the one that does his paint work, etc. His stuff is TOP SHELF in the Oldsmobile community. I bet the reserve is north of $40k.

Edit: Holy crap .... looks like No Reserve.

No reserve and the woman selling the car said she would sell it for $16,000.00 with shipping anywhere in the US. I know, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.
Plus the seller has zero feedback and just registered 9/23. I guess if I was smart I would just forget about this car and consider myself lucky but, it does look like a nice car.

OK - something is definitely up with this car. After looking at the pics again, I see that they are the same pics that Gene/Mark used when he put the car up a few months back. The last shot shows it in a paint booth. That's a dead give-away. I bet you dollars to dog-$h!t that this is a scam. Send your money into never-never-land and good luck getting a car in return. Run away QUICKLY from this ........

Also, why would you have a *507* Minnesota area code and ask callers to call Pacific time ? Seem kinda strange ???

You have those picts? or the ebay names to look it up...the ad says this "I would do paypal but have had bad experiences before so I am doing money orders or a service recommended by eBay."
So you could go with an escrow service to be safe..

Here's the original, LEGIT auction.

'69 W-30 442

Some of the pics look familiar ???

Looks like the description is a cut-n-paste of the original.

my newest repsonse when i pursued a look over

Hi ,

I said the car is inNorwood Young America MN.. but did not said I'm there also. Sorry for that. I'm a hotel manager, now in Hawaii actually and will not be there to hand it over or something like that. The rest of the money you can give me cash or check is not a problem. This is why we'll work through eBay Motors Customer Department and they will keep the money until the purchase is final and you test it and accept it. Sorry for not being clear from the beginning, my fault.

Let me explain you how the ebay process works.

The process works something like this:

1. You send the requested amount to an ebay motors representative.

2. eBay will confirm me that you have made the payment.

3. I will ship you the car so you can test drive the car.

4. If you will not get exactly the same car that you have viewed in the ad, and also a clean title you will receive all your money back from ebay motors.

5. If everything is ok ebay motors will get the approval from you to release me the founds and you will give the rest of the cash directly to me.

If you agree with this process please let me know your full name and address and I will forward the details to ebay motors.

Thank you.

Rita Pinto
