Add one more. When listing your creampuff on ebay please take your pictures in the DAYTIME.I've seen so many pictures taken at night with no flash or in a garage with a single 5 watt lightbulb surrounded by cardboard boxes with 15 years of accumulated nicnacs and garbage. When looking on ebay at your mint 10k original mile Impala SS I don't really give a s**t about the beautiful Montana sunset in the background. And then telling me how mint the engine compartment is while the photo shows the hood up and I'm looking into a black abyss.Other then living in Fairbanks Alaska in mid December I don't see what the problem is.

I just got back from a 10 hour round trip to turn down a Z28 that I bid on and won off of ebay last week. Supposed to be rust-free my buddy who went with figured that the must have meant that if I bought the car I got the rust for free! The first thing I did was remove the rear quarter vent and took a look-full of black silicone and undercoating. Bottoms of doors were rusty and rs header was held together by bubbling bondo. But the guy has the balls to call it rust free?????? I am real glad I did not make a down payment using paypal because all I was out was a day of work and $100 worth of fuel. I am done buying cars on ebay-3 out of 6 that I have bought were totally misrepresented.

I have bought numerous cars off eBay and have never been disappointed. I have several rules that I follow.
1. Talk on the phone with the seller. Ask them to nit pick the car. have them walk around the car and describe the smallest item. Tell them that you are planning on coming to see it or have it inspected even if you are not. 2. Ask for very specific photos of known problem areas for the type of car you are looking at. 3. Ask for photos of the body(paint) with reflections in it so you can see that the paint and body are flat. 4. Get photos of the areas that most people don't take the time to fix right (under dash, door hinges, pinch welds by rear dog legs and rockers, back side of rockers. 5. Make sure that the photos are of good quality, not necessarily high resolution because your computer screen can't display anything too high anyway. Good lighting some in sun and some in the shade (not dark). If you don't get what you ask for ask again, if your still not satisfied PASS!!!!! It always works for me.

The guy had listed completely rust free in the ebay ad-I asked him via email if it was original rust free-as it had 53000 miles on it and had been stored for 20+ years-and he of course said that it was rust free. I did not talk to him on the phone-probably should in the future.

I would be seriously pissed at anyone who called a car rust-free, and it had any rust whatsoever on it.
To top it off, "rust free" isn't a label to apply to a total rustbucket that has had all its pans replaced with taiwan tin either...call it what it is, "rust has been REPAIRED".. Rust free means just that...no rust ever, anywhere (excepting thin aurface rust, no pitting) He deserved a royal reaming, and a verbal lesson in wasting someone's time and money. I'd have no hesitation in telling him how I felt right then and there. ![]()
