Pantera,
If you have the "brass tag" ID you'd be able to.

I thought you needed proof that it was raced in that particular time frame(69-71) to be able to race in vintage racing. A 69 Corvette that didn't get raced until 78 probably wouldn't qualify for the vintage racing. That's the impression I got from talking to people but who knows for sure?

1973 is the cut off for a true vintage race car as things started to get really radical at that time. A car with history prior to 1973 is vintage eligible in all venues and cars with later history or cars that have been built to vintage race standards can race in many venues.
I raced a 1968 Z28 at Road America in 2004 and this car was built from a roller in the 80's. Certainly no vintage race history, but built to conform with the rules. Many if not most of the cars that raced last weekend at Texas World Speedway for the CVAR event never saw a race track in the 60's or 70's. The Monterey Historics only allow cars with proven race history, no currently built stuff at Laguna Seca. |

Steve Earle who runs both the Monterey Historics and the Wine Country Classics in Sonoma hand picks all the entrants for these venues.I know a guy who has a vintage IMSA Chevy Monza but they wouldn't let him run because he has a modern fuel injection system on it.
They get pretty picky on who makes it and who doesn't. I know another family who has a beautifully restored '69 Z/28 (one of the sharpest T/A cars in exsistance ![]() He has raced this event many times and Wine Country too.The only reason I can think of is lack of space on the grid but like I mentioned, his car has as much race history as most of the others with the exception of the Penske & Bud Moore cars.

A local Austin racer that runs CVAR at Texas World Speedway has a legitimate Shelby Team coupe that ran during the era. It was raced by a lady and ended up in Mexico. Very, very nice car that was rejected for Monterey Historics.

I still have the original title for this car. it was ran on the street for the first year and then has been campained ever since. The log books go back to 1972 when they first started to use Log books.
I am the third owner of the car. I first saw it at the Ponca City Grand Prix. Then a year later it ran in the TransAm race at Hallett and Mitch Lambert of OKC told me he would sell me the car as a roller so a little later that year I bought it from him. I was running a tired '63 roadster and this was such a better car. It came with the original title registered to a Colby Hillman of Columbus OH. It came from Konners Chev there as a 435 4 sp. ragtop. I ran it as a B/P car and was actually faster with the small block. It has qualified for the runoffs twice while I owned it. I still have all the old log books (3). It has its first pic setting on the old Dallas airport race track. Remember that one? It is now a Industral park. I don't know anything about a brass number plate. In '78 they were having a hard time filling the fields with enought cars so local A/P cars were allowed to enter on a one time basis. I sure remember running it at TWS. Man is that a bumpy ride in the banking. Have they ever repaived it? Pantera OH well I will just have to run in the Can-Am vintage races with my other car.
