Instead of the ARK get a shot of it lighting up the rear tires and it will be known as the Burning Bush, Congradulations on a great car Steve.

Don't mess with old farts - age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! Bullshit and brilliance only come with age and experience.

The story behind the "disfigured" shifter ball goes like this... Years ago, Moses had a leak in the heater core and decided to change it himself... Using a trouble light to see under the dash, the light rested on the shifter ball as he was working... He left the light on and went in the house for a bit, and during this time, it melted the ball... Good thing it didnt set the whole car on fire as badly melted as it is! Another interesting thing I noted, is the ball itself is a faux-wood type Hurst ball... which i had never seen before on a deuce. (we had a big discussion here about the "correct" ball being black several months ago) I asked Moses if he had ever changed it, and he said no, that was the same ball it had on it when he drove it off the Dale Chevrolet lot in 1971. I noted there was no lock-nut under it to hold it in place on the stick, so possibly the original was stolen while sitting on the lot for nearly a year, or maybe some of the cars actually were shipped with this style knob... who knows? Was a really neat opportunity to talk to yet another original owner of one of these Yenko supercars... nothing quite like talking to someone who has owned and cared for one of these things for 5 years longer than I have even been on this planet!

Another cool thing that Moses said was that after he totaled his 67 Chevelle SS 396 he went shopping for his next car in 4/71 at a number of dealers. He went to Holtz Motors in Hales Corner, WI, Nickey in Chicago, and Fencl Tufo Chevrolet in Chicago before "settling" on the Deuce! He said he had never even heard of Yenko before buying the car and only bought it because after he beat the salesman Mr. Polanski up on price he was walking when Mr. Polanski finally aggreed to take Moses offer of $3600 before he hit the door and was gone forever!
