I can remember our New car manager ordering a 70 Pontiac, after a 3 martini lunch,Butternut yellow ,tan vinyl roof ,red interior, and the car was built and shipped. How would you like to find that on a trim tag 35 years later when you're doing a restoration.

The dealer made the manager drive the car as his demonstrator until it was sold, for his punishment. He drove it about a month and couldn't take the abuse anymore. We ended up repainting the car red so it matched the interior and the car sold within a week.

Back in 1987 my dad ordered a new Chevy Suburban 3/4 ton 4x4 in gold with a saddle interior. It arrived as gold with a bright blue interior. It looked like the Cub Scout's official staff car. I ended up driving it for 10 years. It was definitely easy to spot in a parking lot.

OK, here's one for the Corvette guys. Didn't GM offer something of an unusual color combo for the '63 Corvette? Daytona Blue exterior with Red interior!
