Default Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5

[ QUOTE ]
this car came from the factory in TRIPLE GREEN ...795 45 B...ouch. Given my resent experience with green Chevelles and my personal dislike for green interior and green vinyl tops I have a real problem restoring this car triple green.

And, should you decide to complete the car in triple green, it sounds like your real problem will still exist once the restoration's finished. It sounds to me like you have a difficult decision to make, various opinions notwithstanding.

Again, people, especially the intelligentsia , will tell you, "Nice car" to your face and then walk away thinking, "Too bad it's triple green." That's just the hard economic truth. If you paint it Cranberry Red with black stripes (or any popular color), people will crowd around it and most will wish they owned it. Purists, all due respect, will scoff because it's been color-changed. To each his own. Let them open their wallets for a triple-green LS5. Green paint is fine, triple-green is, as you said: "ouch."

Yes, there is always a "dope" who will pay $100,000 for a color-changed SS454 Chevelle but what if they're happy with their purchase? What if they take their 100K prize out every sunny Saturday for a 30-mile drive and return home with a huge grin on their face, not caring about the "provenance" of their dream machine? Some will say that person is a "dope." Others will say only a "dope" would restore a car in triple-green. To each his own.

Rick, you do have a tough decision to make! Sounds like it might be an "ouch" no matter what you do. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Good luck!
