In fact, I may be able to send you a sample and you can get it mixed locally to match. Send me your address to [email protected] and I will ship you some in a small bottle. I actually bought a standard color orange but had it special tinted with additional red and black to match the original Chevy orange. You will need to buy the hardner for the Onmi Urethane paint but it will result in a better, more durable paint.

The 2K Urethane Omni paint I used was P/N MTK 60914 Red with the addition of small amounts of base Red and Black to match the original Chevy Orange. The 60914 Red paint was close to the Original based on the color chip but looked too Orange when applied on top of the original Chevy Orange.

[ QUOTE ]
I was just talking with John Hinckley about this very subject and he said that Chevrolet had a number of paint suppliers so the color could and did change slightly all the time.

Had a simalar conversation with Jerry MacNeish several years ago. He felt the same way.

During the era, all of the 'Big Three' had several outside suppliers for anything that wasn't manufactured 'in house'. This was done to avoid possible disruptions in the production schedules.

Thanks to all for your help. Very interesting how several shades of Chevy Orange were utilized back in the day.
