Where does a 1971 Mulsane Blue Paint shade,Non Factory Hood & deck Stripes, replaced Block, wrong redline Tach,Repop tires,BorgWarner Trans.,replaced seat cover and over sized coil springs qualify as a "Well preserved Survivor"?
Don't even get me started on that Engine Compartment..

All that aside,I am glad to see one of these come out,and Canadian Documented too.
Wish it had the scarce TH400..

This would be the first solid lifter 69-70 Chevelle sold new in Ontario that I have seen that wasn't built in Baltimore. Could be a red flag. The 5500 redline isn't good. The shifter handle and knob are wrong and don't come up through the middle of the driveshaft hump like our cars. The shifter trim ring and seal aren't correct either. It's not the kind of car that you would buy the wrong shifter for then butcher the floor to make it fit. A '70 master cylinder would be nice as well. I'm sure there were more than 231 13637 model Chevelles sold here in '70.

I don't think it's a Red Flag if it wasn't built at Baltimore.
I know of a few solid lifter 1970 Chevelles, that were shipped to Canada built at Van Nuys, and Kansas Plants.
George Z.says 231 is documented through their records.

Code #45 Green Mist is shown on his paperwork as being the original color,as is the L-78 engine.
Why do you bet it was a 350HP originally, besides the incorrect tach?Canadian Docs are pretty tough to beat, and a 4:10 wasn't possible on an L-34.
I'm not disputing it's heritage at all, just it's advertised condition.

We have a GM of Canada documented 1969 300 Deluxe L78 SS396 Chevelle. The documentation states: "Number Produced For Sale In Canada: (Same Model No. Only) 2673." My understanding is that this is the number of 300 Deluxe hardtops 13437 that were produced for sale in Canada regardless of manufacturing plant or options. No breakdown as to options. Obviously, there were more than 231 Malibu hardtops sold new in Canada in '70. Perhaps they had better break down info for '70. Who knows. It just makes me a little curious. With the GM of Canada documentation, you can spend your money and get your own documentation on the car if what you see is suspect.

231 is the amount IMPORTED FOR SALE into Canada, with the 136370 model number.
I have more Canadian Documented 1970 Chevelles, all reflecting that same statistic.

It would be interesting to find out how GM derives the numbers sold. Our '69 was listed as one of 2673 13437 hardtops produced for sale in Canada. In '70 it appears that there is a further breakdown into models imported for sale here. We had our documentation done in 1997. Perhaps there is further breakdown now for the '69s as well. Live and learn.

I'm 50 min away. Since George is a friend of mine I'll see if he remembers documenting this car. If it had the ZL2 hood and orig Muncie etc, I'd go see it and if it was the real deal I'd spring for it.

Just got off the phone with George and he remembers doing the sheet not too long ago. Note also that the car was not ordered with stripes besides the colour change.
