Got my flame suit on Gents.....................Fire away!!!!!
Seven years ago I parted out a 68Z similar to Redneck's car. Non original motor/tranny but had the factory 12 bolt, interior, nice sheet metal and a few 302 motor parts in the trunk. I more then tripled my $$$$ on that one.

Did you make $27,000 parting it out? if not, sounds like the smarter thing to do would have been to keep the car intact.

Keep in mind the factory motor/tranny was long gone. Therefore, it had lost its Z28 pedigree. I have no regrets.
