Not to sound flippant, but extrapolating values based upon the nicest surviving '67 Z in existence doesn't seem prudent. That car sounds like a curve wrecker as far as establishing values of the rank and file. Also, all things being equal, I don't believe '68's could ever equal '67's or '69's for that matter. They truly are, and will probably always be, the underappreciated middle child of the marque. The fact that they're so hard to document only makes it worse.
BillD, thanks for telling of the $65K sale you've heard of. Can you tell any more about that car? Low mile survivor or killer resto? Anybody else have real money knowledge of sales of good cars in the last year? I know one of the board members turned down $40K for his after some soul searching not too long ago (was that you BillD?). I'd like to hear some others before I talk to my buddy. Thanks again. |

TOM406, Yes that was me that turned down the 40000 for the 68Z. The offer was from someone who intended to immediately sell the car.
The car (68Z) that went for mid 60's was a fully restored (quite some time ago)RS car. I may have some photos of it and will look and PM them to you if you are interested and I can find them. There is another 68Z currently advertised for 68000, which just completed an extensive no expense spared restoration. I don't know if the just restored car has sold or not. |

Thanks for the reply, BillD. I really appreciate the info. I think my friend has enough info to go on regarding his old car. He's going to get some pictures to make sure no one has screwed up his restoration in the last 8 or 9 years. It was essentially a #1 car back when he sold it in '96 (for a little over $25K Remember those days?). Its been driven since, hopefully not too hard or stored improperly. At any rate, I don't think too many people are writing checks for $50K+ on these cars, at least not yet.
