I've heard rumors of documentation for all GM cars sold here, similar to what is available for the Canadian cars. When this becomes a reality in the states it will help legit cars and really hurt the "clone" cars that have been passed off as matching ## LS-6 or ???
just my 02 cents this WILL BE available in the near future

Don't count it and don't believe everything you hear. Documentation for U.S. cars will not happen.

And you know this because you looked through all the GM files personally ?

I can get my next door neighbor who doesn't know a Camaro from a Yugo to write a verification letter and no one who be the wiser.

Remind me not to do business with your next door neighbor.

As far as docs from GM. While I wish it would happen (boy, would this result in some serious a$$ whippings for some of the guys who have sold bogus cars with bogus tags and bogus engines!!!) I seriously doubt it.
Still, it doens't hurt to hope.

As far as what it is worth, still a wide variety of opinions, but there are plenty of guys out there willing to pay for a "real" first gen Z even without the original engine, so even if it isn't worth it to you, that doesn't mean there isn't a buyer out there. I wasn't trying to "correct" anyone, just trying to look at the big picture.

I don't think you have to look through all the files personally. I think Rick H. and where he works may be a little closer to this story than most of us. At least me. I have heard about Docs for some time now. If the docs exist.....bring em on! Whats the hold up! When and if the Yenkos and COPO's come back down to where they should be (price wise), then no one will care about Docs anymore.

Lynn,
I agree about guys wanting a first gen and willing to pay the money to get them but there are certain years such as the 1968 Camaro that is very difficult to verify without supporting documentation. Especially one without the original drivetrain.

I know of one 1967 Camaro Z/28 that recently sold for $75,000 US and it did not have the original motor. Difference being that that the car could be verified. So there are people willing to pay for the right car whether correct or not.

Boy, would the pucker rise by a factor of a thousand if they ever released the docs. I am not holding my breath because I just don't see it happening.

Cowardly Lion

Didn't someone on here tell a story about a "fake trim tag seller" who got punched out by a dissatisfied customer at Vettefest (or some car show)? Seems the customer's car was docked points for an "aftermarket" tag, even though the seller "guaranteed" it to be undetectable. Yeah, boy!!!!

It would probably result in an all-out war in the '63-'69 Corvette world, or at least an avalanche of litigation.
