The DOT sounds like they are Authentic Vintage.
Repops have a different formatted DOT.
The 1970 + design is all that I have seen repopped.
1969 was different.Hard to say what design tire you have be it 69 or 70 vintage.
Can you show us a picture of the Tread/Lettering design?
I agree,I wouldn't drive on them if they were recapped,or even NOS!
