Hi All,
I've been doing some home work for my 68 SS Camaro on the Camaro.net site. I've been told that my trim plate is differant to the "normal" plates. I was advised to talk to you guys on here for some more info. I've done a search and found the tread "1968 YENKO CAMARO VIN LIST & TRIM TAG INFO". My trim tag is the same as the 68 COPO (Yenko) Camaro trim tag listed. The car is numbers matching. How can I find out if it was a YENKO or COPO car? I've posted a pic of the Trim Tag. Thanks in advance for your help |

No it's not on the list
![]() The Car was purchased about 12 months ago. It was stripped in 1982 to be restored. Unfortuantely it was never finished (or started for that matter). I purchased the car in bits. I've had the body dipped and work will start on the body in the start of October. I'm currently having the front rails repaired and once finished will start assembling the front end. |

Next step is to check the VIN plate on the dash to the Partial VIN on the firewall by the heater blower motor and again under the cowl vents on the passenger side. If they dont match the VIN plate, something is wrong. If the Partial VINs match one on the 68 listing but not the VIN plate on the dash, I would think something is very wrong and either the car was rebodied or the CIN was replaced.

I've already done that. I've confirmed, with the help of quite a few people at Camaro.net that the car is 100% Numbers matching. The only questionable component is the Transmission. but i'm told that some export cars used "unique"codes. All other codes are correct.
I'm 99.9% sure it's complete and numbers matching but the "strange" trim plate (see above) has me curious about it's origons. |

I've been a member of Yenko.net for quite a while so it's possilbe. At that time I may not of owned the car. I was either "paying it off" or researching the purchase. I've owned it for about a year. Only in the last week have I fully researched the car. I was told buy the seller (a good family friend) it was an original SS/RS Big Block but have never been sure.
NOTE: This may help shed some light on this. Both myself and the car are in Australia. I know the car has been over here for a while but before 1982 I'm not sure where it came from. Am trying to contact the original owner. |
