Metric system coversion was right at about that time, but i don't think that was the reason as it was a slow changeover.

I have a '72 brochure listing a 350 at 165 hp. This was a net rating. Our 400 Pontiac was rated at 250 hp with dual exhaust and 200 with single. The net ratings are a little closer to real world, as installed in the car.

I have a '72 brochure and the assembly manual that indicates 200hp for the Nova SS. Alan Colvin's book indicates 175 hp for the SS.

Maybe so. What is the horsepower rating on your car?

I don't know...somebody seems to have cut the HP rating off the air cleaner decal.... and hey Frank... go pick on someone your own size.

The story behind frank and joe not having horsepower ratings on their cars came from the original owner car dad bought in NJ. That one didn't have it. Wasn't sure if that was something yenko did but I did it to both of their cars when we finished them. It would sound about right with the numbers that frank put up at the last reunion. lmao
