From "Corvette by the numbers" by Alan L. Colvin:
"The Borg-Warner T10 4-speed was introduced in the Camaro and Corvette in January 1974." "By 1974, the muscle car era was basically over, and General motors decided to outsource transmissions for those few models that still needed a high performance gearbox." "This version is considered the sixth, or final, design, and is more commonly known as the Second Design Super T10." "The Borg-Warner 4-speed offered two new gear ratios, a low wide 2,64:1 and low close ratio of 2,43:1" This one is 2,43:1 close ratio built in 1975 with a Norwood VIN on it. What does that first #2 designate ? Anders

The first 2 is GM Division designation
1-----Chevy 2-----Pontiac 3-----Olds 4-----Buick The 5 after the 2 is the model year... So your trans came out of a 1975 Firebird built at the Norwood plant...Hope this helps...Crash |
