Default Re: What is Considered a Day 2 Car?

Day-2 was not all about performance. It was also about looks and keeping pace with your buddy who thought he a had fast Ford or Mopar. It was about change, the in thing to do. Loud mufflers, and rebellion! Tires sticking out because they looked neat. It was the sixties...flower power, ban the bra, protest the war! Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young! It wasn't just thinking you were going to make your car a bad a$$ ride but to impress the girls too. It is hard for younger guys to understand why we just didn't flog the stuff the car came with. We were told through the aftermarket to junk all that stuff, your car would never run with the original parts. Get into the groove. Like groovey man!!! Actually some guys cars slowed up. They over cammed them and over carbed them. Tires were too big and the gear ratios to high. Headers and header mufflers leaned an already lean motor even more. On and on and on! But one thing is for sure I would NEVER trade those times and memories for anything except maybe my 2 grandaughters. The sixties started and ended that gretest era on earth. So let that be a to ya, you youngsters! Tell em Schonye!!!
