Default Re: L89 Orange vert clone

Hi; Let me set the record straight. I was asked By a Very well known Collector in Ga, to carefully go over the supposed 3000 mile L-89 Orange convertible that appeared at Atlantic City Auction for sale. My findings then were as Now. A very Nice Orange Low Mile Convertible. This car had paint work to the top of both fenders and hood?, paint work to the top of one quarter where an antenna was removed, A 100% original interior, except for the stick pedals( too nice). The rear was refinished? The subframe was also refinished?, The engine had a JJ stamp that one character just wasn't right!!!! Nicely over restored for a super Low Mile car. However Very Correct and dated Right there!!! The questions wher Heightened by a real Protecto-plate??????????. I called the name on it and just got ringing, the Number was Correct and the People still lived at the Pa adrress on it!!!!I spent several hours tring to get some History somewhere. Well here What Unfolded. the Miami dealers that brought this car to Nj. Bought the car in Fla at an Auction, there it Had No Protecto-Plate. It had been repped by Eddie Eldridge for the seller in fla. They had carefully removed the interior in search of Some thing to Point to the birthpoint. WOW somewhere between Fla and NJ it Grew a Protecto-Plate that was weathered for more authenticty !! Further phone calls to Steve Shauger Put everything clear This Car was constructed by A well Known restorer to be the Ultimate Clone, Infact there is a Bill of Sale that Clearly States it as a Clone outthere!! In fact The Original Protect-Plate still Exist Verifing it as a 327 /auto car.
Now on to Victor Miller, he bought the car in Atlantic City and wasn't seen untill Carlise the following Spring. There I unfortunately sold him an NOS 69 fender. At 10 o 'clock he was Drinking a Bud . He Begged and Pleaded for info on this car. I refused , Finally I he had to know, I told him what I listed above and Then put him on the Phone with Steve Shaugher and They talked for a few minutes and He stated He had been told by Others that This was a Fake Car!!!. He came back to my space the next day DRUNK Screming and threating Me and My family and All of Those who called His car a Fake. He made an Absolute Ass out of Him Self and he was asked to go away. He was not Right in the Head!!!!!thankfully Him and his group went back to the Cape. They reappeared at Gm Carlise for Round 2 where it was just as ugly as the first. There will be many chimes on that one. Jim
