Texas can and will only go back to 1984.I had my chevelle tracked and that was as far as they would or could go back.Did not do me any good because it came back showing the guy I bought the car from!

Mr. Dodson, that's no good... hopefully the original owner kept it for 15 years. The xerox shows the trasfer to have been done in 1999 with 78,000 miles on the clock.

Thanks Belair, will do!

Try it with them and see what they can come up with. You can get the form on line I do not remember the site address but try under Texas Government.I alos just bought a 69 Dart swinger.I have the original title and wanted to keep it.So I had the previous owner fill out the paper work for a lost title.I go the the Texas Dept of Transportation to get a new title.Well they do not show any records of the car at all!Figure that one out.So I either have the option to get a bonded title and keep the original or turn the original in when I transfer the car.Going to cost about $500.00 for a bonded title! I don't know if it is worth spending that much just to keep the original title.I wish you luck in your search and will try to help if I can I am only about 25 miles from the DOT office. Try looking for Texas Department of Transportation web site to have them search,I think it cost me like $15.00 and it took about 3 weeks. They will not go through the microfiche to look just as far as there computers go back.I even offered to pay someone $100.00 to do a search after hours or whatever.I was told This"I would not go down there for a $1000.00 to look it is a dungeon!
