Actually very few of the major components are original and/or correct for the car. The interior was originally a standard black interior but is now black and white houndstooth. Since the cowl tag has -- for special paint, without some type of documentation, you don't know the original color. The engine is probably a correct dated engine but not original to the car. Exhaust system is wrong. Tires are wrong. And tons of smaller items that are wrong.

Great looking car....it's expensive but a lot of folks don't care if it's totally correct.

Great looking car....it's expensive but a lot of folks don't care if it's totally correct. [/ QUOTE ]The Majority of Todays Buyers DO NOT CARE!!! Wake up all You PURISTS CLINGING TO YOUR ORIGINAL WHEEL WEIGHTS AND WING NUTS!!!! the Market for these cars consists of the 35-60 Age Bracket with Disposable income that want the Car they could not afford way back whenever. so now for whatever reason they have an extra chunk of Dough Laying around and they want to fill that empty void they have yearned to do for so long. Take a Look at "Colin's Classic Car Prices". He sells very Fine Cars at Very High Prices. Been in Business since 1989 and no sign of Bankruptcy yet. Most of todays buyers are pleased with a well done clone of their dream car that to Buy the Real thing would be pushing $200K! Nice Clones of Yenko and COPO Cars are starting around $35K and up to $100K!!. The Purist is a very small Buyer of these High End Cars. they usually procure a Perfect Car long before Colin or any other Dealer gets their Mitts on them. and I am in no way Knocking Colin. He is a Great Guy and a Man to be admired for what he is doing and has done! I am certain this X77 whatever it is was or will be will make some Mid Lifer a very Happy guy who may not even need Viagra for Months after the purchase!! ![]()

Has any one talked to this guy or seen the car? Does it have the original drive train? Any doc's? Seems high for a clone, but very nicely done.

------If you read the add I believe he states that it doesnt have the original drivetrain. At least thats how I took his ramblings. Saying its numbers matching means nothing!..........Bill S

Thanks for waking us purist up. To some , which I include my self in that group... we enjoy learning and dismissing the myths surrounding these muscle cars. Delving into wheel weight and wing nuts isn't for everyone, but for the purist it is enlightening and rewarding.
The car that started this thread is a betweener. The seller provides the trim tag info, but nothing matches ie color , interior, exterior trim. It will take quite a lot to make it technically correct. It seems the owner was trying to strike a balance. For me why not go all the way and make a resto-mod install a powerful new technology engine, modern suspension and build the car the way you want. I am partial to black Z ![]()

I was not trying to insult, only point out that todays Market has a new face. That face belongs to people with More Desire and Money than they have Car sense. I would want a Correct Z-28 for wht the eBay car is going for. some other guy is looking at a well Built updated Car that reminds him of the one he always wanted so he will buy that Car. Good for Him, Good For the Seller and Great for the Market. and speaking of the Market, if You have not looked at Colins site as yet, Do so as He is doing things that others only dream of. and in such a way that he is a proven success. 1st rule of Business. Start with a great Product line! He follows that rule to the letter! Steve I hope you reach out next time you are coming to Visit your Mom. I want you to go over my Car, espescially those Tail lights!! I might be at Raceway Park but not confirmed yet. ![]()

Guys-
Just to clarify after reading Dave's (12bolt) post: Yes, I have been in business for a long time. Yes, I do sell cars for a lot of money. BUT, to get the kind of cars that I have, my "Mitts" have to shell out a lot of money, too! People always ask "how do you get those cars?" Simple - P A Y - U P ! And then wait for somebody who appreciates the car like I do that pays more so I can keep the lights on and some food on the table. I will never lie and say that I don't make money on cars. Just like any other business , mine has to turn a profit too. I don't think there is a member of this site who works for free. If you are reading this, and you work for free, give me a call. We need to talk ! LOL Also, I like to pride myself on the fact that I do sell cars to the purists. In fact, if a guy doesn't know what he is buying, he is not buying it from me. Period. Just can't do it. Ask Gags, Charley, or Mike G how many "Barrett-Jackson VIP" type buyers I have shown the door when they pissed me off by being ignorant. "Well gee whiz, I love this 66 Vette 425HP car, but why can't I have an automatic trans, power steering and power brakes?" BAM - here's the door. Finally, my cars are real - not clones, not fakes, not UFO's with no paperwork. Not saying I haven't sold a neat clone or two over the years, but less than .0005% of what I have sold in the last decade-plus. Just wanted to clarify...and thanks for the compliment, Dave. Sincerely, Colin |

The workmanship on the car seems to represent the "Hobby" very well.....
