Default Camaro resurection news

It might be of interest to this group to know that in the recent budget cuts announced by GM, the rear-drive Zeta platform was canceled. This was definitely the base chassis platform that would be the new Camaro and the next generation non-australian GTO. Unfortunately their word was canceled, not postponed. No other rear-drive platform still exists at GM that could be tapped for this project. Bad news for Chevrolet fans when Ford is out there with a clear homerun package in the Mustang. GM........they just don't get it and haven't for a long time. They had better wake up before it's too late.

Zeta was cancelled in North American only. Holden will still get their Zeta. However, this has nothing to do with the new Camaro. Scott Settlemire himself said, "what is Zeta but a name?"

This may delay the new Camaro, however it doesn't kill it.

More light reading from Bob Lutz on the death of Zeta

Correct.. Three weeks ago I spoke to a GM insider from within Chevrolet- who told me that ZETA was not the future platform for the RWD 07-08 Chevrolet "Pony car" -which is all he would call it.

Bob Lutz says that the automotive writers over reacted and he spoke like there was still something in the pipeline as the above post suggested.

They introduced a new car last night on Speed channel called the "COBALT SS".

The Cobalt is a 4-cylinder front-drive Cavalier replacement...granted, the SS gets a supercharger, but please don't confuse it with a performance car!

Not from the dealer. But install a loud muffler, a couple of flat screens, an obnoxious sound system and a Sony play station and NOW you have a performance car!

The official word is "postponed," not cancelled, as of last week.

In the May issue of Hemmings Muslecar Mag. they state that the new GTO will be built on the Zeta platform and in the USA. Check it out.

As has been noted here, Hemmings needs an experienced fact checker. Great mag to read, but as my grandma used to tell me, "trust everyone, but always cut the cards."
Some of the other posts about GM don't sound too optamistic about GM's long range future, let alone RWD platforms.
How about a 4 seat SSR?
