I AM INCLUDING THE EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM THE GENTLEMAN I SOLD THE AIR CLEANER TO:
Hello, the Z air cleaners are smaller OD than that one. The tops have knotches in it where the wing nut sits. The base design is different. There is a picture on the Second Gen web site that shows them. This style is from bbc on Impala's and Vettes in the mid 60's. Even the pcv tube is larger on this one than a sbc one. |

No Impala ever had a chrome lid or a Holley style notched base. Corvettes with holleys (LT1) were open element units. Corvette lid is altogether different in profile. The one you photographed sure looks right to me, appears just like the original paint base one on my sYc Deuce.

Looks pretty good to me, I'd have to see a better pic of the bulges on the snorkels where they attach to the base, but otherwise, it looks good!

I purchased my 70 Z28 in 1981 from the original owner. If you need any other info, just let me know. My 70 Z28 is original except I left the AIR pump off and went with a 4 core rad.

CAN YOU MEASURE THE WIDTH ON THE BASE FROM LIP TO LIP WHERE THE LIT ATTACHES [/ QUOTE ] The top of the base measures 16-1/2" across and if I flip the chrome breather lid upside down it measures 16-7/8"
