Thanks for your information, I am away on vaccation and cant post the pic of the shifter handle. The shifter that the assemlby manual lists is # 3973864 is a bench seat shifter handle and it has a large curve on the handle. The council shifter handle is a different number and it is almost straight with verry little curve. What you seem to be telling me is that the bucket seat 1970 chevelles with no
coucil came with a council shifter (the no curve or straight handle) and not the bench seat shifter???? GM made the muncie shifters for many applications and years of models. I beleive that Only the 1970 Chevelle and other 1970 cars had the part numbers stamped on the shifter handles. The other rod numbers " 1437 "9192 "1438 are numbers for the 70 chevelle. These numbers match the gm manual. GM I think in 1969 chevelles and other models did not have numbers stamped on the shifter handle. I guess it would be nice to get an opinnion from a unmolested 70 chevelle bucket seat no council member ![]() ![]() Thanks suprss70 |
