I looked at this car over twice last year. Parts of it looked really neat. It is what it is.
It has quite a presence as a day 3 type car. uncorked - it really comes into a class of its own. Neat car for late night serious street action for sure. Not a "driver" on todays pump gas!! ![]() Over at the Second generation site they had a thread on this car. I do not think all of the photo links work but the posts are still there: http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/000887.html Phil ![]() |

I looked over this car in September and went for a ride in it. It appeared to be an original paint/interior car with a detailed engine compartment and chassis. It was very, very fast and extremly beautiful car. I fell in love with it.

AS A PREVIOUS OWNER OF THIS CAR I AM STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD. I DID INDEED SPEAK WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR AND HE DID TELL ME THAT STRICKLER/JENKINS DID HAVE INVOLVEMENT IN THE CAR. HE NEVER ELABORATED TO ME HOW EXTENSIVE THE INVOLVEMENT WAS, BUT I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION IT WAS MORE ALONG THE LINES OF CARB WORK, TUNING, ETC... THERE IS NO WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION OF THIS AS I PASSED THIS ALONG TO PAT WHEN I SOLD HIM THE CAR. PAT DID HIS OWN HOMEWORK AND CONFIRMED WHAT I HEARD FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AS WELL. AS FAR AS GEOFF STUNKARDS CONVERSATION WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNER I CANNOT CONFIRM BUT I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT WAS ALONG THE SAME LINES AS WHAT PAT AND MYSELF WERE TOLD. I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THAT AN ORIGINAL OWNER WOULD FABRICATE STORIES ABOUT A CAR HE OWNED FOR 27+ YEARS. AS FAR AS DON WHITE IS CONCERNED HE DOES GET THE CREDIT FOR AN ADEQUATE JOB DETAILING THE CAR TO ITS CURRENT STATUS, I THINK HE FELLS SHORTCHANGED FOR NOT BEING MENTIONED IN THE MCR ARTICLE

i have to agree with you regarding the purpose of this thread, or should i say don's modivation for hammering the article... you represented the car to me very acurately... the paperwork you provided gave me the name & number of the original owner, i contacted him & after several tries (& troy's encouragement), i finally spoke with the original owner, john,... he conveyed to me the story of how he ordered the car from lanzolitti chevy, waited for a long time to get the car... had already planned to take it to stricker for work to be done and so on.. geoff stunkard, did due diligence (imo) & also confirmed the story, in an independent conversation with john they had... i'm with you, why would someone who owned a car for 27+ years fabricate a story like this, AFTER the car is sold & he has nothing to gain!! now maybe don has some other motives.. i do not know. who really knows the entire history? i am told don did 'detail' the engine & front suspension on the car & it does look good, albeit some minor items are incorrect.. maybe don feels slighted that he should have somehow profited from this history on the car, or his name was not mentioned in the mcr article??? in the end, the car is a very nice, mostly original paint & interior very low mileage, nicely documented z, not a car that was converted by one of the most famous names in the business, for stricker & jenkins to have worked on the car is just a bonus as far as i'm concerened.. i bought the car for the same reasons kevin stated & am very glad to have owned this car & would love to own it again.. |

Kenny, I appreciate your kind thoughts on the car and Im not trying to kill the car. But when you say I did an adequate job DETAILING IT thats a little short i think. I respect your opinion about cars especially camaros but if you think that rebuilding the engine, trans, and rear and taking the whole car apart and rebuilding all the mechanicals putting on an exhaust system, then doing bodywork to the drivers door and repainting the driver side of the car and spot painting it in other areas [WHICH BTW I DID THE PAINT WORK MYSELF WITH TOPCOAT DUPONT LAQUER WITH HEATLAMPS]is just an adequate DETAIL job I dissagree with you. But in all fairness to you. You were not there and did not see the car before I started. If Harry Lutz seen the article then he will vouch for the work I did. Maybe he will post pics too!! And you and I know the truth about how the deal went down with the car and I did want it but thats another story. We wont touch on that. I hope we can be civil with each other as we always run in to each other at the shows I really dont want to be enemies!

one other thing, i don't think the original owner, john "lost the car to his wife", since i personally had numerous conversation with her when i called their residence, very nice lady & she gave me some insight as well....
