I just flew back from the auction Sunday night. I thought the announcers rushed the Motion car through and then ended it with out trying to get the highest bid on the car that they could.
Does anyone know just who the buyer was. All we could find out was that it someone on the phone long distance from Las Vegas but so far, no name has surfaced. I have a person in mind that could afford it that is from Vegas, but I am not sure if he was the buyer or not? I honestly don't know who it was and believe me, I asked everybody while I was there but not one person knew any more than I did. To answer your question about the owners it was a older couple that had inheaarited it from his brother and it was being handled by George for them at the sale. George is one nice guy and a member on here. It is a shame that it didn't go for more money but just following a 3 mil dollar car so close kinda took the moment away for those cars behind it for a while. Charlie bought a neat 32 Ford Roadster. There was talk that Goldberg was going to bid on the BM Vette, but never did. He just doesn't look big on TV, he is even bigger in real life, I should know.
George painted the BM Vette, and did one heck of a nice job!!

George told me that he should be back in NY by tomorrow or Thursday. I will ask him who bought it, since I didn't see him after the BM sold, and left at 5am on Sunday morning. Rick, I will let you know what I find out.

I called George last night and he was in western Okla for the night and down with a cold. He said he was sure that the new owner would be in contact with him since he still has the document from Joel reguarding the car and he was sure they would want to get that from him.
He promiced to post who, just as soon as he finds out. Has anybody asked Sandlin if he knows anything about it? Pantera

Not sure if this is helpful, but while re watching the auction on tape, the receiveing Telephone auctioneer(Pete Davis?)who has the bidder on the other end, looks directly into the Camera lens and says,"THANKS RICHARD,THATA BOY,THANKS RICHARD,THANK YOU",then gives two thumbs up.
The Narrators say that he was referring to the winner of the B/M Corvette. It could have been an inbetween, but are there any well known Car collectors named Richard living in Las Vegas? |

[/ QUOTE ]Yes.. it was Richard Simmons who bought the car.. He's hoping it'll give him a boost of masculinity.... [/ QUOTE ] "OKAY PEEEOPLE! LET'S START THE CORVETTE!!!" (Vroom, VROOOOM!) "OKAY, LET'S REV THE ENGINE AND DROP THE CLUTCH AND SEE WHAT HE'LL DO!!!" (Mr. Simmons refers to all of his cars as "He.") (VROOOOM, VROOOOOOOM . . . SCREEEEEEECH!) "OH DEAR HEEEEELLLLLLLP---HAAAAAAAAAALLLLLP!!!!" (Sound of rapidly-accelerating and very manly 427 Corvette fades until all is quiet. Richard Simmons' obituary appears in newspaper the next day.) |
