Default SB - BB Conversion

I assume that the firewall holes drilled for the SB heater core/box were not drilled on BB cars. That being said, if that is correct do you just weld patches in to cover the holes? If my assumption is not correct, what is used to cover the holes left behind? Anyone have any closeup pics?
