Sam I am curious, does your timing cover have a date code stamped on it. I found one on mine when I disassembled the engine. My red L78 had the vin# stamped on the front where as my Gold car is stamped by the oil filter, from what I understand if the engine was assembled with the alternator on it was stamped on the back, without the alternator it was stamped in the front. Have you heard why would some engines be assembled with the alternator, and some not? ![]() I'll check that timing cover for a stamp, next time I am out working on it..
