Late August build would be the following model year.In this case 1967 or 1969 models.
That CW was used from 1964-69 Chevelles with 3:31 non posi rear. Look for a CON VIN Stamped on ther Frame.Check Drivers side over the rear tire,or passenger side rear horizontal rail. |

The numbers i found were on the left rear on the horizontal part of the fram right behind the rear tire.
3943331 S 190 and 8 6 9 1 XK directly below the first series of numbers Should the vin of the original body be stamped somewhere? I have no idea where the body is,, all i have is the frame in pretty bad shape. According to the measurement between the backing plates this is for a 66 or 67.. |

Yes,sometimes the Body's VIN# will be stamped on the frame, but not always. It will be a shortened VIN#,called a CON (Confidential) VIN.
Example-if Cars full VIN# is 136379K123456,look for 19K123456 stamped on the frame rails were I described earlier. The other numbers you stated are the Frame Part number etc. Breaks down as: *#3943331=is a 1969 Chevelle 2 dr. frame. *S= is A.O Smith Manufacturer *8=August *6=day *9=year 1-Shift XK=was used as a 1969 Chevelle Frame suffix code. |
